Saskatchewan Food & Ingredient Processing Ecosystem Gap Analysis – Highlight Report

June 2, 2026

Aligning with Prairie Food Link’s vision to be a global leader in food, beverage and ingredient innovation and processing, the cluster undertook to gather information on the Saskatchewan food and ingredient processing sector to complete an ecosystem gap analysis to determine actionable recommendations to address the findings of the analysis.

The comprehensive ecosystem gap analysis direction was to assess the current landscape of food and ingredients, determine gaps in existing infrastructure, technology and workforce for the industry, identify opportunities and challenges in Saskatchewan and on a global scale, evaluate policy and regulatory barriers, examine the environmental sustainability practices, and deliver recommendations for improvements, closing identified gaps, and fostering growth in the sector through a final report and presentation. The project will help Prairie Food Link continue to share vital ideas and information with its members to drive innovation, investment, and job creation. Prairie Food Link established a Steering Committee for the Saskatchewan Food & Ingredient Processing Ecosystem Gap Analysis.
